Our year-end service numbers are in, and they are sobering. In 2023, from our 3 food distribution centers in North Jersey, The Food Brigade fed 25,697 hungry children, and a total of 77,908 people in need. Thank you to everyone who has supported our work in the fight against hunger & food insecurity over the past 3+ years. Food insecurity continues to be a massive problem in New Jersey, and we need your support even more now in 2024.
The Food Brigade is a proud partner agency of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, part of the Feeding America network, and of Feed the Children, the international hunger-relief organization. We are a Local Distribution Agency ("LDA") for United States Department of Agriculture food under TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) and for New Jersey Department of Agriculture food under SFPP (the State Food Purchase Program). The Food Brigade Inc. is a registered tax-exempt charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, EIN 85-3278219, and a registered and compliant charity with the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Division of Consumer Affairs, Charities Registration Section, Charity Registration #CH4394200 (registration with the Attorney General does not imply endorsement). The Food Brigade was selected as the Best Nonprofit Organization in the 2023 Community's Choice Awards. The Food Brigade has been awarded the PLATINUM Seal of Transparency from Candid / GuideStar. Charity Navigator has given The Food Brigade a score of 100% for "Culture & Community" (an assessment of our culture and connectedness to the community we serve) and 100% for "Leadership & Adaptability" (an assessment of our leadership capacity, strategic thinking and planning, and ability to innovate or respond to changes in constituent demand/need or other relevant social and economic conditions to achieve our mission).
